Job summary

American Control Electronics in Chanhassen, MN seeks an Embedded Systems Engineer (Hardware and Firmware) to design, develop, test, and maintain electronic hardware and embedded firmware for motor controllers and other embedded systems. You will lead schematic capture, PCB oversight, component selection, and DFx requirements across product lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• 3–5 years hardware and firmware experience.
• Solid power electronics and signal integrity knowledge.
• Experience with MCU firmware in C/C++ and interfaces.
• Ability to read datasheets and manufacturing documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop firmware, schematics, and oversee PCBA layout for AC/DC motor controllers and other embedded systems.
• Select components with consideration for performance, availability, lifecycle, and cost.
• Support PCB layout review for signal integrity, power, and thermal performance.
• Collaborate with clients, 3rd-party engineers, technicians, sales, and specialists on custom designs.
• Define and support DFM, DFA, and DFT requirements.
• Support prototype builds, bring-up, debugging, and validation testing.
• Support design changes and continuous product improvements.
• Maintain professional, technical, and computer knowledge via education.
• Comply with safety policies; report unsafe activity to supervisor/Human Resources.
• Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
