Job summary

Obsolete Site is recruiting for a role supporting casualty affairs operations and mortuary services with ties to the Department of the Army. You will present briefs to senior leaders and military teams, inspect remains, and manage official purchase card processes while ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 15% of the time.
• Performs 24-hour casualty assistance duties and must be immediately available to respond.
• Employee will be required to work irregular tours of duty to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Employee must maintain training in applicable policies, techniques, tactics, and procedures.

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes 1) processing current death; such as deaths of service members and their dependents, Department of the Army Civilians, active duty, National Guard and Army Reservists; 2) serving as a Contracting Officer Representative for contracts for mortuary services; 3) serving as a member of a disaster response team in the search, recovery, evacuation, and/or identification of remains at an accident site; and 4) providing expertise in the analysis, testing and evaluation of emergency and evacuation planning, operations and response of a casualty assistance center in the event of an emergency, such as, multiple military casualties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Combination of Education and Experience:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement:

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

• Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 4 Years by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.
