Navy Federal Credit Union is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to evaluate and underwrite all mortgage loan types in accordance with NFCU guidelines, investor requirements, and applicable state and government regulations. The role requires collaborating with loan originators and processors to ensure complete data and compliant documentation.

Formación

• 3 years of experience in mortgage lending.
• Knowledge of mortgage/equity loan processing and regulations.
• Familiarity with underwriting process and guidelines.
• Basic research, analytical, and problem solving skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsabilidades

• Analyze mortgage loan information on income, assets, and credit criteria to confirm loan eligibility.
• Analyze exceptions and rejections; recommend alternative mortgage products.
• Analyze self-employed borrower income documentation.
• Approve mortgage loans and authorize loan disbursements.
• Determine the acceptability and marketability of the real estate property.
• Prepare and present alternative options on marginal loans; analyze exception requests and adverse action.
• Review contracts related to real estate such as age restrictions and HOAs.
• Collaborate with loan originator and processor to ensure data and documentation are obtained.
• Mentor Mortgage Processors, Closers, and Officers.
• Maintain knowledge of NFCU mortgage products and guidelines.
