Job description

Description

• Seeking experienced Mortgage Underwriters to join our team and support loan processing for broker clients. This role plays a critical part in evaluating loan applications, ensuring compliance, and driving quality underwriting decisions. We have multiple openings and are looking for dedicated professionals eager to contribute long-term.
• Loan Underwriting: Review and assess files submitted by broker clients, ensuring compliance with FHA, VA, and conventional lending guidelines.
• Approval Process: Collaborate with the loan structure and precision income teams to finalize approvals.
• Workflow Coordination: Integrate within Pennymac’s structured, end-to-end loan process, focusing exclusively on underwriting.
• Compliance & Risk Assessment: Ensure loans meet investor guidelines (FHA UW, HUD UW, VA UW, VA IRRL, VA SAR, TrumsID Registration) and adhere to quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of mortgage underwriting experience
• Strong knowledge of mortgage underwriting and automated underwriting systems
• Understanding of mortgage laws and regulations, including the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act
• Knowledge of state and federal agency mortgage loan guidelines is advantageous
• (Loss mitigation or servicing underwriters are disqualified)
• Deep understanding of FHA, VA, and conventional loan underwriting

Remote position; residency required in certain states. Training scheduled in EST for up to 90 days, from 11 AM to 6 PM EST.

Pay and Benefits

The hourly pay rate is $31.00. Eligibility for benefits depends on job classification and employment duration, and benefits may change over time. Potential benefits include:
