Job summary

Citi Retail Mortgage in Santa Clara, CA is hiring a Mortgage Lending Officer to originate high-quality residential real estate loans. You will engage with clients, real estate partners, and referral sources to structure lending solutions that fit financial goals.

The role requires mortgage sales experience, an established client base, and a solid understanding of FHA/VA and conventional loans. Expect active collaboration with branches and operations to close loans successfully.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years relevant experience.
• 3+ years previous mortgage sales experience required.
• Residential Mortgage experience required.
• Established book of business.
• Proven product sales capability is required.
• FHA/VA & conventional loan experience is preferred.
• Ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives.
• Ability to communicate with customers about the proper documents and information needed to obtain a loan.
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing consumer lending including fair lending, privacy, and RESPA.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong relationship development and management skills.
• Expertise of general lending products and overall mortgage industry.
• Must register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry.

Responsibilities

• Consult with customers about their financial situation and lending needs to achieve home ownership goals.
• Collect and analyze information about customers' finances, goals, and credit history.
• Assess whether customers and properties may qualify for lending solutions.
• Recommend lending options that meet customer objectives.
• Advise on risks and benefits of lending solutions.
• Promote Citi's lending services to real estate agents and referral sources.
• Visit customers outside Citi offices as needed.
• Collaborate with internal partners to grow customer base.
• Refer customers to other Citi professionals for financial needs.
• Coordinate with Operations to transfer loan applications and obtain required information.
• Work with Processors/Closers to ensure timely loan closings.
• Develop referral relationships with Realtors, CPAs, builders, etc.
• Keep abreast of local market trends and regulatory changes.
