Job summary

Self-Help Services Corporation in Durham, NC is seeking a Quality Control & Document Custody Specialist to ensure accurate document custody, audits, and compliance with GSE and investor requirements. This role collaborates with Lending, Servicing, Legal, and Compliance teams.

You will develop QC testing plans, review procedures, and maintain audit trails while supporting internal and external audits; strong Excel skills and mortgage knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field; minimum 3 years mortgage processing or lending experience.
• Mortgage quality control, final documentation/doc custody, and knowledge of GSE quality control and Doc Custody policies required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; ability to analyze loan-level data.

Responsibilities

• Manage the doc custody program with multiple third-party custodians.
• Complete audits of document custodians.
• Ensure collateral files contain required docs including executed Note, recorded Deed of Trust, Final Title Policy.
• Certify documents are endorsed and assigned.
• Monitor GSE and regulatory requirements and recommend changes.
