Job summary

The Washington Trust Company is seeking a detail-oriented Loan Origination Specialist to support our Mortgage Originators through the residential loan process. You will handle administrative tasks, documentation, and customer care from application to closing.

Responsibilities include managing loan files, assisting borrowers, collecting documents, and coordinating with internal partners to move applications efficiently. A strong attention to detail and excellent communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of administrative support experience in a mortgage lending environment.
• Experience supporting Mortgage Originators preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Working knowledge of mortgage loan documentation and loan origination systems, including Encompass, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Mortgage Originators by managing loan files and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Assist borrowers throughout the mortgage application process and provide exceptional customer service.
• Request, collect, review, and upload required loan documentation.
• Monitor loan pipelines and help ensure applications move efficiently through the lending process.
• Coordinate with Mortgage Originators, Processors, and internal partners regarding file status and outstanding conditions.
• Respond to customer inquiries and provide coverage when Mortgage Originators are unavailable.
• Assist with CRM management, customer follow-up, and other marketing and business development activities.
