Job summary

Liberty FCU is seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to join its lending team in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. The role requires strong communication, multitasking, and self‑generated business development to grow mortgage loan volume.

You will interview clients, assess credit, discuss loan options, and coordinate with partners to ensure smooth loan approvals while staying compliant with regulations. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and NMLS registration is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2-3 years mortgage origination experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills to discuss loan details with clients.
• Strong mathematical and statistical analysis ability.
• Sound knowledge of loan terms and conditions.
• Strong logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to stay updated on new loan reforms and laws.
• Ability to obtain federal registration/NMLS.

Responsibilities

• Conduct loan interviews, discuss programs, explain processes, and request documents for loan approval.
• Evaluate credit of prospective borrowers for qualification purposes.
• Pursue leads and contact prospective borrower leads via phone, email, or in person.
• Evaluate financial status to determine appropriate residential mortgage proposals.
• Understand and apply Federal and NCUA regulatory rules for mortgage lending.
• Make sales calls to borrowers and partners to explain options and secure loans.
• Maintain knowledge of loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting guidelines.
• Prospect and network with realtors, builders, and referral partners.
