Job summary

Fifth Third Bank in Lansing, MI seeks a Mortgage Loan Originator to originate residential loans from application to closing, while developing referral networks with realtors and builders.

You will manage the loan pipeline, ensure compliance with lending guidelines and federal regulations, and provide timely updates to branches and applicants. Compensation is largely incentive-based with a base salary or draw.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
• Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines.
• Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
• Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated organizational and customer service skills.
• Proven computer skills.
• Basic sales technique skills.
• Strong desire to excel in a competitive environment.
• This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration via NMLS.

Responsibilities

• Develop referral contacts with realtors and builders.
• Maintain knowledge of mortgage policies and procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of loan products, processing, underwriting and guidelines.
• Follow protocol for escalation of exceptions.
• Take applicant applications using Form 1003 on laptop.
• Access daily rates and credit reports and transmit loans to LOMAS.
• Collect documentation and deliver loan packages within set timeframes.
• Manage pipeline through closing and complete management reports.
• Communicate with branches and applicants with timely updates.
• Maintain high levels of customer service and manage expectations.
• Attend Consumer Lending meetings as required.
