Job summary

Fifth Third Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to manage residential loan origination from application to closing. You will develop referral networks, stay current on loan products, and ensure timely, accurate processing while maintaining strong customer service.

The role requires experience in mortgage lending, knowledge of guidelines, and a proactive approach to risk and approvals, with incentives tied to performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years mortgage lending experience.
• Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines.
• Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
• Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
• Demonstrated organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Demonstrated teamwork and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop referral contacts (realtors, builders, professional and personal contacts).
• Maintain knowledge of Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and procedures.
• Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting and general departmental guidelines.
• Follow defined protocol for escalation exceptions.
• Take applicant applications by completing Fannie Mae form 1003 on the laptop.
• Collect appropriate documentation from each applicant and deliver loan package in time frames set by management.
• Manage pipeline for all originated loans through closing and complete required management reports.
