Job summary

Wintrust Mortgage in Schaumburg, IL, is seeking a Loan Originator Assistant to support the loan process from origination through closing. You will monitor files, ensure accuracy and compliance, and coordinate with borrowers, attorneys, and agents.

You will also help market the Loan Officer’s services, manage daily transactions, and prepare documentation for processing and underwriting, leveraging your mortgage knowledge to close loans efficiently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Excellent multitasking, interpersonal, organizational, communication and telephone etiquette skills.
• Self-starter, motivated, energetic with strong time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and take direction.
• Updated knowledge of mortgage guidelines (Fannie/Freddie).
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Internet.
• Minimum 3–5 years mortgage banking experience or related sales/marketing experience.
• Encompass experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the origination, processing, and closing of loans.
• Monitor the status of each file and ensure accurate and efficient processing through closing, including guideline research.
• Review files to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
• Work with internal and external customers.
• Reach out to referral sources (attorneys, agents, etc.) on the Loan Officer’s behalf.
• Assist in marketing the Loan Officer’s services to new prospective referral partners, using marketing materials.
• Manage day-to-day transactions and relationships with customers and vendors.
• Meet with potential borrowers to analyze financial situation and needs for purchase or refinance, gather documentation for the loan process.
• Provide necessary documentation to processing and underwriting to ensure timely closings.
• Must have working knowledge of mortgage loans and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
