Job summary

My Mortgage, Inc. is seeking a Mortgage Loan Originator to meet with applicants, prepare loan proposals, and review active loans.

You will serve as a liaison between applicants and our lending institution, explain financing options, and help qualified borrowers obtain suitable loans while maintaining compliance with policies.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years in loan officer role.
  • Certification or licensing as required by state.
  • Solid knowledge of FHA, VA, and FNMA loan types.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal loan regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist borrowers with initial loan applications and gather required details.
  • Verify information and obtain borrowers' credit reports.
  • Submit applications for underwriting and assess creditworthiness.
  • Approve or refer loans beyond pre-approved limits.
  • Explain loan options and payment schedules to clients.
  • Maintain lending records and cultivate a robust local referral network.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

At My Mortgage, Inc., we pride ourselves in our fairness and honesty and we truly care about every loan transaction and each client we serve. As a Mortgage Loan Originator, you will be responsible meeting with applicants, preparing loan proposals, and examining active loans. You will act as a liaison between applicants and our financial institution, as well as helping qualified applicants obtain loans.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assists potential borrowers with completion of initial loan applications; reviews submitted applications for accuracy and completion, requesting additional information or detail as needed.
  • Verifies information and financial history provided; acquires borrowers' credit reports from major credit reporting bureau(s).
  • Submits application to credit analysts or, when appropriate, examines application and creditworthiness of potential borrower; determines or makes recommendations regarding approval or denial/modification of requested loan.
  • Approves or, when outside pre-approved lending limits, refers loans to management for analysis and approval.
  • Ensures loan agreements are completed according to policy; calculates and explains payment schedules.
  • Explains different lending and credit options and bank products to potential and current clients.
  • Maintains credit and lending records and files.
  • Maintains a robust referral network in the local banking community with builders, real estate agents, and other related businesses.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Position Requirements
Required Skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification of any mandatory state loan officer training or licensing required.
  • 2+ Years as a Loan officer
  • Solid understanding of local, state, and federal loan regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and sales skills.
  • Thorough understanding of Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Veterans Affairs (VA), Federal National Mortgage (Fannie Mae), and other types of construction and conventional loans.
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or equivalent.
  • 3+ Years as a Loan Officer
  • Knowledge of LOS Encompass system.
