Job summary

IU Credit Union is seeking a Mortgage Loan Closer to prepare and finalize closing documents after underwriting approval. You will coordinate closing dates with title companies and IUCU branches, wire funds to title companies, and prepare all closed loans for activation to servicing or for delivery to the secondary market investor.

A typical day includes delivering closing documents on time, reviewing title insurance, and assisting with mortgage inquiries while maintaining strong customer service

Qualifications

• One or more years of customer service experience required.
• Mortgage Closing or Lending experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Availability to work onsite Monday to Friday and every fifth Saturday.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn and adapt to new information and technology platforms.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare initial and final closing documents within deadlines.
• Review approval and title insurance; ensure conditions are met.

Mortgage Loan Closer

The Mortgage Loan Closer clears conditions and prepares all necessary documentation required for loan closing, once a loan approval notice has been issued by underwriting. This role coordinates closing dates with title companies and IUCU branches, wires funds to title companies, disburses internal closings, and prepares all closed loans for activation to the servicing system or for delivery to the secondary market investor.

A Typical Day

• Preparation and delivery of initial and final closing documents within the required deadlines


• Review approval and title insurance; ensure satisfaction of conditions


• Disbursal and balancing of funds, close out functions to record documents, prepare file for activation and servicing, delivery to secondary market, if applicable


• Answering and resolving all phone calls related to the mortgage closing process and maintaining contact with title companies to resolve issues and coordinate closings


• Providing assistance with Lending Center phone line calls to answer and resolve general consumer and mortgage calls, referring to appropriate staff as needed


• Providing assistance and resolving general mortgage and consumer related questions or issues.
