Job summary

Chesapeake Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Assistant in Richmond, VA to support the Mortgage Loan Officer. You will receive loan applications, interview customers, and begin the loan process while counseling borrowers who do not qualify for a loan.

The role requires a High School Diploma and 6 months to 1 year in an office setting, with 1 year in a related mortgage support role. Training will be provided and NMLS licensing may be pursued.

Qualifications

• Understanding of mortgage loan products (Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo).
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and word processing (Excel, Word).
• Knowledge of financial institution products and services.

Responsibilities

• Keying loans into the mortgage system and uploading files to MLOPS.
• Attend mandatory training and classes offered by the institution.
• Collect documents from borrowers to complete the application package.
• Cross-market bank products and services as appropriate.
• Assist with delinquent loan collections and HELOC/Bank ARM closings as needed.
• Support Loan Officer with reports, pipeline management, and borrower follow-ups.
• Adhere to compliance culture and risk management processes.
• Use office equipment for data input and credit reports.
