Job Profile
The bank is hiring a Mortgage Loan Assistant who will assist the Mortgage Loan Officer by receiving loan applications and interviewing customers to initiate the loan application and approval process.
Counsel borrowers who do not qualify for a loan.
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in an office environment
- 1 year of experience working as a mortgage loan assistant, loan processor, or equivalent
- Successful completion of an in-house training program (if applicable) or an approved outside training program.
License/Certification
- Obtain Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) licensing
Duties/Responsibilities
- Assists with keying loans into the mortgage system and uploading files to MLOPS.
- Attends mandatory training and classes offered by the financial institution.
- Collects necessary documentation from borrowers to complete the application package.
- Cross-market financial institution products and services as appropriate.
- Handles the collection of delinquent loans.
- Handles HELOC or Bank ARM closings in or out of the branch if needed.
- Identifies the need for, orders, and executes changes in terms of agreements and various servicing of loan customers. Performs a variety of clerical duties requiring knowledge of departmental procedures.
- Assists the Loan Officer, including typing reports and forms, pipeline management, and following up with borrowers for necessary documentation.
- Understand your role as defined by the three lines of defense to maintain a compliance culture that includes risk management processes.
- Uses office computers for data input and other activities, and orders credit reports.
- Assists other departments temporarily as needed during peak hours.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- General understanding of mortgage loan products (Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo)
- Good understanding of computer spreadsheet and word processing programs, i.e., Microsoft product suite, Excel, Word, etc.
- Good understanding of financial institution products and services
