Job summary

First Interstate Bank is seeking an Inside Sales Mortgage Loan Officer to originate permanent residential loans via our Digital Platform, handling inbound calls and online inquiries across Rapid City, Spearfish, and Sturgis, SD.

You will consult with clients to define housing goals, present loan options, and guide each file through application and documentation; the role offers a fast-paced, high-volume environment with a base salary plus per-unit incentives.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Handles inquiries and leads from FIB digital platforms, branch referrals, and self-sourced opportunities.
• Learns housing goals and recommends loan options.
• Converts leads to full applications and submits documents to processing.
• Sets realistic expectations and follows Ability To Repay guidelines.
• Obtains and analyzes credit reports and locks in rates on request.
• Manages lead pipeline to meet KPIs through active engagement.
• Navigate loan origination system while ensuring compliance.
