Job summary

Portage Township Schools is seeking a school cafeteria worker for a 6-hour shift from 7:45am to 1:45pm. You will assist with food prep, serving, POS operations, and kitchen sanitation while interacting positively with students and staff.

Responsibilities include inventory, reports, and promoting healthy school meals in a busy lunchroom environment; the role requires basic math, strong communication, and adherence to safety policies. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills are required and the ability to handle cash.
• Excellent communication with students, staff and parents.
• Ability to work calmly in a busy lunchroom and maintain timeliness.
• Must complete food service sanitation training and pass Indiana Food Handler Certification.
• Sanitation certification must be maintained during employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation, production, ordering, and inventory.
• Collect money for lunch and ala carte items, operate the POS system, and prepare reports.
• Interact positively with students, faculty, and parents.
• Perform kitchen duties including dishwashing and sanitation.
• Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized work areas.
• Attend training and adhere to safety policies.
• Follow procedures for school food service and safety regulations.
• Assist with school food service promotions and events.
• Identify and communicate safety hazards and participate in hazard correction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
