Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools is seeking a School Kitchen Assistant to prepare meals, serve students and staff, and follow nutrition services protocols. The role emphasizes safe, sanitary meal service and accurate record-keeping within Star Lake Elementary.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, consistent work hours, and cash handling experience, with benefits prorated by FTE as part of the Nutrition Services program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current FWPS Employee or Guest Employee with Nutrition Services.
• Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis.
• Past experience in service industry serving the public, cash handling experience.
• Working knowledge of basic computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Kitchen Manager with lunch setup, prep and cleanup.
• Communicate and serve meals to students, plate food on request.
• Operate POS, tickets, and record meals sold daily.
• Maintain records of lunches and ala-carte items sold.
• Attend contracted meetings and support kitchen operations.
