Job summary

Ymcaokc is seeking Lifeguards for the Mitch Park YMCA to help keep the pool safe and welcoming for all swimmers. Join us to gain experience and enjoy a fast-paced aquatics environment, with training provided if you’re new to lifeguarding.

The role is from 5 AM to 2 PM, Monday through Friday, with starting pay of $12.00 per hour. You’ll monitor activity, respond to emergencies, and uphold pool safety and YMCA policies.

Qualifications

• Must be certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid.
• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• YMCA Lifeguard or certification by another nationally recognized organization.
• Must promote caring, honesty, respect and responsibility to staff and the public.
• Must relate positively to pool patrons and stay professional in emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Must be mentally alert to dangerous situations to assure swimmer safety.
• Must be able to rescue and use aquatic equipment to assist a 200-pound person.
• Able to read, write and do basic math.
• Remain alert in humid and hot conditions.
• Communicate verbally and project voice across distances.
• Record incidents on report forms and provide emergency care as needed.
• Maintain lifeguard skills, CPR, First Aid and preventive safety practices.
