Job summary

Ymcaokc is seeking a dedicated aquatics team member to ensure pool safety and a welcoming environment. Whether you’re a lifeguard or lifeguard-in-training, you’ll help swimmers feel confident and safe, with training provided by the YMCA.

The role includes preventing accidents, performing water rescues, and enforcing safety procedures, while staying alert in hot and humid conditions and maintaining physical readiness.

Qualifications

• Must be certified in CPR, AED, Oxygen, and First Aid. (Training provided by the Y)
• Must be 16 years of age or older
• YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent recognized certification. (Training provided by the Y)
• Must demonstrate a cooperative spirit and promote caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility
• Must relate well with pool patrons and maintain a professional, alert, courteous demeanor

Responsibilities

• Provide for the welfare and safety of all participants in and around the pool.
• Perform rescue and emergency care of any accident victim and document incidents.
• Maintain skills for preventive lifeguarding and water rescues, CPR, First Aid.
• Attend required training and certification events.
• Enforce pool rules and safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
• Build positive relationships with members and staff while on duty.
