Calrod Engineering in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking a skilled CNC Lathe/Mill Set Up Operator to join our precision machining team. You will set up and operate CNC machines, read engineering drawings, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances with rigorous self-inspection.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe and milling machines for production and prototype runs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications.
• Select and install tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices.
• Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs to ensure accurate and efficient machining.
• Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Must be able to check your own parts.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in CNC lathe and/or mill set up and operation
• Proficiency with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Mazak, or Haas
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Experience with precision measurement tools and quality inspection processes
• Solid understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling, and machining best practices
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality parts
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment
• Spanish speaking is a PLUS
