Job summary

Calrod Engineering in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking a skilled CNC Lathe/Mill Set Up Operator to join our precision machining team. You will set up and operate CNC lathes and mills, read blueprints, and ensure parts meet tight tolerances.

The role requires 3+ years’ experience, proficiency with Fanuc, Mazak, or Haas controls, and a commitment to quality. Spanish speaking is a plus; we offer a collaborative shop and opportunities for training.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in CNC lathe and/or mill setup and operation.
• Proficiency with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Mazak, or Haas.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience with precision measurement tools and quality inspection processes.
• Solid understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling, and machining best practices.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality parts.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathe and milling machines for production and prototype runs.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications.
• Select and install tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices.
• Write, edit, and optimize CNC programs to ensure accurate and efficient machining.
• Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Must be able to check your own parts.
