Job summary

Elevate Community Services Inc. is seeking a Monitor to oversee shelter residents, enforce program policies, and support safety and sanitation around the clock.

The role includes bag checks, greeting clients, distributing meals, and preparing coffee, with shift documentation and coordination with security as needed. Ideal candidates have a High School diploma or GED or 1 year of experience with homeless or at-risk populations; Spanish speaking is preferred to better serve clients and families

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe, secure, and efficient facility and program 24 hours a day.
  • Ensure safety of residents and staff in all emergencies.
  • Ensure residents’ compliance with program policies and rules.
  • Engage with clients to create a welcoming environment.
  • Pass out client meals and supplies.
  • Prepare coffee for clients.
  • Monitor grounds on an hourly basis for safety concerns.
  • Conduct bag checks for all clients entering the facility in a safe manner and in accordance with ECS bag check policy.
  • Check for contraband in facility through general observation, room or package/purse searches
  • Utilize crisis intervention techniques to assist with de-escalation of situations while prioritizing staff and client safety.
  • Coordinate with Security Contractor for services on an as needed basis.
  • Complete support documentation and daily shift reports
  • Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of Elevate Community Services
  • Maintain resident sign-in/out log as well as all other logbooks and records.
  • Answer telephone and route calls or messages to appropriate staff. Respond to in-person and telephone inquiries from the public.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Monitor is responsible for monitoring the activities of residents of the shelter and to ensure compliance with program rules and expectations. He/she is also responsible for ensuring the safety of residents and the security and sanitation of the program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensure a safe, secure, and efficient facility and program 24 hours a day.

  • Ensures safety of residents and staff in all emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

The successful candidate with have a High School Diploma or GED equivalency or 1 year experience working with the homeless or other at-risk population. Spanish speaking, preferred.

  • The ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, others and program supplies as necessary. The physical ability to travel to assigned locations, stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb,talk, see, hear and perform basic and light home maintenance activities, and operate office equipment.
  • The physical ability to move and lift light objects up to 30 pounds such as mail, supplies, files, and equipment. The ability to operate office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
  • The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.
