Qualifications

• High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required.
• 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years will be accepted in substitute of a monitor tech surveillance program/course.
• Certification/Licensure: Basic Arrhythmia competency tool required.

Responsibilities

• Observe, recognize, interpret, evaluate, and document EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients.
• Notify appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias promptly.
• Operate and utilize monitoring system to full capacity.
• Rotate between hospital areas with cardiac monitoring patients, excluding LDRP and ED.

Promptly notifies appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias. Operates and utilizes monitoring system to full capacity. Ensures proper and safe functioning of the telemetry equipment.This position will rotate between all areas of the hospital with cardiac monitoring patients with the exception of the LDRP and Emergency Departments.The Telemetry/Stroke team at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post- coronary interventions, post-ablation, myocardial infarctions.
