Job summary

Sentara RMH Medical Center is recruiting a part-time Monitor Technician to observe, interpret, and document EKG tracings on telemetry patients, helping detect deviations from the patient’s norm. The role requires completion of a monitor technician surveillance program or a certificate within 90 days, or one year of recent surveillance experience.

High school graduation is required, and basic understanding of cardiac monitoring is strongly desired.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program required upon hire.
• If not completed, a certificate program must be completed within 90 days of hire.
• Or 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years accepted in place of a program.

Responsibilities

• Observe, recognize, interpret, evaluate, and document EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients.
• Identify deviations from patient’s norm and communicate findings promptly.
• Support two 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays.

Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a part-time Monitor Technician. This position Observes, recognizes, interprets, evaluates, and documents EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients in order to detect deviations from patient's norm.

Schedule: Two 12-hour shifts per week, rotating weekends, and rotating holidays

Education

High School Grad or Equivalent

Certification/Licensure

• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire.

• Candidates who have not completed a monitor technician surveillance program must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire.

• Or 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years will be accepted in substitute of a monitor tech surveillance program/course.

To be released from new employee orientation all Monitor Technicians must successfully complete the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool which includes passing a basic arrhythmia exam.

Experience

Any previous health care experience can be considered. Basic understanding of cardiac monitoring or EKG is strongly desired
