Job summary

Sentara Health is seeking a Monitor Tech to observe and document EKG tracings for telemetry patients on days shifts. The role requires alertness to dysrhythmias and prompt notification to clinicians, with responsibilities including operating and maintaining telemetry equipment to its full capacity.

The position requires a HS Diploma or equivalent and completion of a monitor technician program, with EKG/Monitor Tech certification.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course is required upon hire.
• Certification as EKG/Monitor Tech is required.

Responsibilities

• Observe, recognize, interpret, evaluate, and document EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients.
• Detect deviations from patient’s norm and promptly notify appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias.
• Operate telemetry monitoring system to full capacity and ensure proper functioning of equipment.
