Job summary

Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA is hiring a part-time Monitor Technician to observe, interpret, and document EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients. You will detect deviations from the patient’s norm and communicate findings to the care team.

Two 12-hour shifts per week are required, with rotating weekends and holidays. A high school diploma is required, and completion of a monitor technician program is needed within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification/licensure.
• Completion of monitor technician surveillance program required on hire or within 90 days.
• Basic understanding of cardiac monitoring or EKG strongly desired.

Responsibilities

• Observe, recognize, interpret, evaluate and document EKG tracings on telemetry patients.
• Identify deviations from patient norms and report to clinical staff.
• Support monitor tech orientation requirements and competency assessments.

Overview

Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a part-time Monitor Technician. This position observes, recognizes, interprets, evaluates, and documents EKG tracings on telemetry‑monitored patients in order to detect deviations from patient's norm.

Schedule

Two 12‑hour shifts per week, rotating weekends, and rotating holidays.

Education and Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent Certification/Licensure. Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire. Candidates who have not completed a monitor technician surveillance program must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire. Or 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years will be accepted in substitute of a monitor tech surveillance program/course. To be released from new employee orientation all Monitor Technicians must successfully complete the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool which includes passing a basic arrhythmia exam. Any previous health care experience can be considered. Basic understanding of cardiac monitoring or EKG is strongly desired.
