Sentara Health is seeking a Full-Time, Night Shift Monitor Tech for Telemetry Surveillance at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA.

Observe, interpret, and document EKG tracings on telemetry patients to detect dysrhythmias and notify staff. Ensure proper operation of monitoring systems and telemetry equipment for patient safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus completion of a monitor technician surveillance program.
• Alternative: 1 year of monitor technician surveillance/EKG monitoring in last 5 years.
• If no surveillance program completed, must finish a certificate program within 90 days of hire.

Hours

• Full Time, Night Shift, 36 hours/week

Overview

Observes, recognizes, interprets, evaluates, and documents EKG tracings on telemetry‑monitored patients in order to detect deviations from patient's norm. Promptly notifies appropriate personnel of dysrhythmias. Operates and utilizes monitoring system to full capacity. Ensures proper and safe functioning of the telemetry equipment.

Education

• High School Diploma and completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course (Required)
• High School Diploma and 1 year experience in monitor technician surveillance within the last 5 years may be accepted in substitute of a monitor tech surveillance program/course
• Candidates who have not completed a monitor technician surveillance program must complete a certificate program within 90 days of hire.
• To be released from new employee orientation all Monitor Technicians must successfully complete the Sentara Basic Arrhythmia competency tool which includes passing a basic arrhythmia exam

Experience

• 1 year of experience in monitor technician surveillance/EKG monitoring within the last 5 years may be accepted in lieu of a monitor tech surveillance program/course
