Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of the Monitor Tech course within six months.
• Strong communication, customer service, and computer skills; knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Interpretation & Reporting of Cardiac Monitoring.
• Accurately interprets cardiac rhythms and records monitor strips on the cardiac monitoring form on all telemetry patients every 8 hours and as needed.
• Recognizes and immediately reports dysrhythmias to the nurse.
• Recognizes interference and artifact and is able to troubleshoot and correct problems.
• Recognizes limitations in cardiac interpretation and seeks consultation when appropriate.
• Responsible for dispensing and retrieving telemetry transmitter.
• Participates in staff educational programs and continuing education to maintain proficiency in EKG interpretation.

The Monitor Tech monitors patients EKG rhythm patterns on electrocardiograph monitors. Makes note of irregular rhythms and monitors changes in rhythms. Ensures that monitors are functioning properly. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.

Responsibilities
