Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Monitoring Technician to oversee continuous cardiac monitor surveillance and promptly notify RNs and clinicians of rhythm changes. The role requires attention to detail, quick decision-making, and strong communication within a collaborative care team.

Education includes a high school diploma or GED, plus monitor tech training with at least 85% competency. Basic computer skills are essential, and CRAT certification is preferred.

• Basic computer skills; strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients' cardiac rhythms and alert RNs/clinicians to changes.
• Review patient information to determine rhythm patterns and variances.
• Collaborate with clinicians as part of the healthcare team.
• Perform duties in alignment with Mercy's mission and standards.

Position Details:

The Monitoring Technician is responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern and prior variances. Works cooperatively as part of a team. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Education: High school diploma, G.E.D. and/or current Mercy coworker.

Monitor tech course completion and/or passing score of 85% on monitor tech competency exam.

Other: Basic computer skills. Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is essential. Excellent communication skills and ability to make quick decisions under pressure is a must.

Preferred Experience: Experience preferred but not mandatory.

Preferred Certifications: CRAT certification preferred.
