Job summary

UPMC Mercy is seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician Specialist to support nurses and the clinical team on the Mercy Pavilion unit. You will help with vital signs, ADLs, specimen collection, phlebotomy and IV tasks, and maintain a clean, safe patient environment.

This role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with variable start times and no weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts. A high school diploma or GED is required, with pathways for advancement through clinical experience or PT/OT/PA

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy and IV skills preferred.
• Experience in patient care and clinical settings is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provides compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting nurses and the clinical team.
• Performs core patient care tasks including bathing, feeding, toileting, and mobility.
• Obtains vital signs, collects specimens, and performs point-of-care testing.
• Monitors telemetry and assists with safety measures to prevent HAC/PSI.
• Supports unit operations and patient flow as needed.
