Job summary

The Biological Scientist II at Civicworks serves in the Molecular Biology Section, performing molecular analytical tests such as PCR and qPCR on clinical and environmental samples from animal species.

The role processes samples, enters results into the Laboratory Information Management System, and coordinates with the Section Head to ensure timely reporting while upholding strict quality assurance and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 1 year of related experience or master's degree.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Comfort with respirators and containment facilities.
• Must pass pulmonary function tests and respirator fit-testing.
• Experience with molecular diagnostics incl. PCR and qPCR.
• Current Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services employee (internal applicants only).

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular analytical tests such as PCR and qPCR on samples.
• Process samples and enter results in LIMS.
• Coordinate with Section Head for timely reporting.
• Ensure strict adherence to QA and regulatory standards.
