Legend Biotech is seeking a Scientist, Molecular Assays in Somerset, NJ, to join the Bioanalytical Sciences team. You will develop, perform, and optimize molecular assays for clinical, translational, and preclinical programs, with emphasis on qPCR, ddPCR, and NGS workflows.

The role requires strong molecular biology hands-on experience, meticulous data handling, and collaboration across research and development teams in a fast-paced biotech setting.

Qualifications

• MS in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related with 8+ years experience
• PhD in related discipline with 3+ years experience
• Hands-on molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, qPCR, RT-qPCR and/or ddPCR
• NGS workflows and library preparation; single-cell sequencing a plus
• Experience in cell and gene therapy, immunology, oncology, or regulated labs desirable
• Strong attention to detail, documentation and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular biology experiments supporting clinical, translational, and preclinical research programs.
• Execute qPCR and ddPCR assays for gene expression, biomarker quantification, transgene detection, vector copy number, and biodistribution studies.
• Support development, optimization, qualification, transfer, and troubleshooting of molecular assays.
• Perform nucleic acid extraction, quantification, and quality assessment from various biological samples.
• Prepare samples and perform library preparation for NGS applications, including scRNA-seq.
• Operate and maintain qPCR, ddPCR, and NGS-related instrumentation.
• Analyze data, maintain documentation, and assist in protocol and SOP preparation.
• Manage biological samples using LIMS and ELN systems with traceability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of workflows and assay performance.
• Adhere to safety guidelines when handling biological specimens and hazardous materials.
