Job summary

Summit Polymers seeks a Mold Technician 1 in Sturgis, MI to manage mold changes, start-ups, operation, and shutdowns. You will follow standard work, conduct quality checks, and support maintenance of machines and molds in a lean, safety-forward environment.

The role involves troubleshooting basic machine and robot issues, supporting supervisor with shift activities, and training operators. Progression through levels and adherence to post-hire training are expected.

Qualifications

Experience performing injection mold changes and conditioning start-ups.
Familiarity with SPI PPE requirements and safety rules.
Ability to safely lockout/tagout and operate related equipment.
Basic troubleshooting of machines and equipment.
Basic troubleshooting of robots and fixtures.
Knowledge of mold construction and function for troubleshooting assistance.
Maintenance and repair of Robot End-Of-Arm-Tooling.
Ability to adjust machine processes to meet specifications.
Identify safety concerns in non-standard conditions and take action.
Communicate production concerns across shifts and teams.
Assist supervisor with shift activities and training of operators and utilities.
Utilize Lean Manufacturing Systems to monitor inventory and schedule production.

Responsibilities

Safely performing injection mold changes and machine start-ups in proper sequence and within time standards.
Complying with SPI PPE requirements such as hard hats, gloves, eye protection.
Performing lockout/tagout and safely operating cranes and related equipment.
Troubleshooting basic machine and equipment problems.
Troubleshooting basic robot problems.
Demonstrating knowledge of mold construction and function for initial troubleshooting.
Performing basic Robot End-Of-Arm-Tooling maintenance and repair.
Completing machine process adjustments within prescribed limits to meet specifications.
Identify non-standard work and safety concerns and take action.
Communicating production concerns with peers on other shifts.
Assisting supervisor in managing shift activities and training of operators and utilities.
Using Summit Lean Manufacturing Systems to monitor inventory, schedule and run production.
Assisting with Operator/Utility breaks.
Assisting in grinding runners and scrap parts.
