Job summary

Summit Polymers in Sturgis, MI seeks a Mold Technician 1 for Shift 3, responsible for mold machine setups, start-ups, operation and shutdowns, following standard work and Summit Lean tools. The role includes inspecting quality, maintaining equipment and basic troubleshooting to keep production flowing.

The position offers multi-level training through Level 3, strong emphasis on safety, housekeeping and teamwork with operators across shifts in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must safely perform side load mold changes and machine start-ups.
• Follow SPI PPE requirements and safety procedures.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic machine, equipment, and robot problems.
• Perform process adjustments to meet specifications.
• Maintain cleanliness and production flow per lean tools.
• Assist training of operators and utilities.

Responsibilities

• Safely performing injection mold changes and machine start-ups in proper sequence.
• Complying with SPI PPE requirements and safety procedures.
• Troubleshooting basic machine and equipment problems.
• Troubleshooting basic robot problems.
• Demonstrating knowledge of mold construction and function and assist in initial troubleshooting.
• Performing basic Robot End-Of-Arm-Tooling maintenance and repair.
• Completing machine process adjustments to meet specs.
• Identifying safety concerns and taking action.
• Communicating with peers across shifts.
• Assisting supervisor in managing shift activities and training of operators and utilities.
• Using Lean Manufacturing Systems to monitor inventory and run production.
• Assisting with Operator/Utility breaks.
• Grind runners and scrap parts as needed.
