PLYMOUTH DERMATOLOGY ASSOCIATES P is seeking a Mohs Surgical Medical Assistant to support the Mohs surgery process, combining standard dermatology MA duties with specialized surgical steps. The role includes preoperative planning, patient chart review, and coordinating biopsy sites.

During procedures, the MA assists the surgeon, maintains sterile technique, prepares rooms, passes instruments, and assists with reconstruction, wound care, and postoperative instructions.

Qualifications

• MA Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review Mohs schedule and patient charts.
• Confirm biopsy site and pathology.
• Confirm surgical site with patient and surgeon.
• Review medications, allergies, anticoagulants, implants, and vitals.
• Take preoperative photographs.
• Prepare the surgical room and sterile field.
• Set up instruments, supplies, sutures, dressings, and medications.
• Assist with surgical timeout/site verification procedures.
• Assist the surgeon during removal of Mohs layers.
• Pass instruments and supplies; maintain clean technique.
• Assist with electrocautery and bleeding control.
• Prepare the patient between stages and monitor post-pathology results.
• Assist with reconstruction: simple/complex closures, flaps, grafts.
• Dress wounds and take postoperative photos.
• Scribe and document encounters in EMR.
