Job summary

Forefront Dermatology is seeking a Mohs Surgery Medical Assistant to support the Mohs Surgeon, maintain sterile rooms, and provide post-operative care. The role includes patient prep, tissue processing, and precise documentation in the EMR. Travel to Wauwatosa, Oconomowoc and Glendale locations may be required.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year in a dermatology or surgical setting, with CMA/RMA/LVN/LPN preferred, and proficiency in MS Office and EMR systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years of dermatology or surgical setting experience preferred.
• CMA, RMA, LVN, or LPN certifications preferred.
• EMR experience, sterile technique, and MS Office proficiency.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced env.
• Willingness to travel to other clinic locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam and procedure rooms for Mohs surgery and other visits.
• Assist the Mohs surgeon during all stages of the procedure.
• Perform patient intake, including medical history and consent forms.
• Provide wound care instructions and post-procedure guidance.
• Process tissue specimens for pathology per protocol.
• Document procedures, meds, and follow-up in the EMR.
• Schedule pre- and post-operative appointments and handle inquiries.
• Obtain prior authorizations if required for insurance.
• Accurately complete patient charting and documentation.
• Manage pathology logs and communicate results with the physician and patient.
• Maintain compliance logs for pathology, biopsy, lab and temperature.
• Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.
• May cross-train in Mohs lab or general dermatology duties.
