Apex Skin in Canton, OH is hiring a Histotechnician to support the Mohs surgery team. The role encompasses tissue processing, accessioning, cutting, staining, and preparing frozen sections for Mohs procedures in a fast-paced clinical setting.

The ideal candidate holds HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification, an AS degree in biology/chemistry/histology, CPR certification, and prior surgical histology experience is preferred. Daytime, full-time hours at Canton A.

Qualifications

• HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) Certification required.
• Associates degree in Biology, Chemistry, Histology or related field required.
• Current and valid CPR certification required.
• Experience with processing frozen sections and highly skilled grossing preferred.
• At least one year of surgical or Mohs experience preferred.
• American Society for Mohs Histotechnology membership preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask, stay organized, and manage time effectively.
• Proficiency in basic computer software, medical terminology, and EMR documentation.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical duties related to production of histology pathological slides.
• Receives and accessions tissue and cytology specimens; prepares for storage and labeling.
• Cuts and stains thin sections for routine and special stains.
• Assists with cutting and staining for frozen sections.
• Maintains equipment and cleans work area; ensures safe chemical handling.
• Researches and troubleshoots histology-related inquiries in the lab.
• Prepares frozen tissues for Mohs surgery specimens.
• Prepares reagents, solutions, and stains as instructed.
• Operates and maintains lab equipment; performs QC checks.
