Job summary

Futura in Austin, TX, is seeking a Modular Data Center Engineer specializing in Mechanical, Electrical or Structural design to own the end-to-end development of factory-built data center modules. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to move concepts to released drawings, prototypes and production, ensuring manufacturability and repeatability in a fast-paced, ownership-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Deep engineering expertise within Mechanical, Electrical or Structural design.
• Experience taking complex physical products from concept into fabrication, assembly or production.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering within your technical discipline from concept through released design, prototype, first article and production launch.
• Develop complete drawings, specifications, calculations and design packages that manufacturing teams can build from repeatedly.
• Solve integration issues where mechanical, electrical and structural systems meet inside a tightly constrained modular product.
• Work directly with manufacturing, fabrication and field teams to resolve RFIs, fit-up issues, tolerances, installation constraints and technical non-conformances.
• Participate personally in mockups, fit checks, prototype builds, testing and first-article reviews.
• Turn factory and field feedback into controlled engineering changes so the next unit builds cleaner than the last.
• Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly principles to reduce field work, simplify assembly and improve repeatability.
• Maintain strong configuration discipline while designs evolve rapidly through prototype and production cycles.
• Partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain and operations to drive fast technical decisions.
• Design for the hundredth and thousandth unit, not just the first prototype.
