We are supporting a rapidly scaling AI infrastructure company that is hiring exceptional engineers into a new FOAK Modular R&D team in Austin. The team is developing factory-built data center modules designed to move critical infrastructure from traditional site construction into repeatable manufacturing.
Candidates are not expected to have experience across all three disciplines. We are looking for engineers with deep expertise in at least one of these areas.
These are highly hands-on product-development roles. Engineers will take first-of-a-kind physical infrastructure from concept through detailed design, released drawings, prototype builds, first article and repeatable production.
The environment is built for people who are comfortable operating with high ownership, moving quickly across disciplines and staying accountable until the physical product works in the factory and in the field.
Mechanical engineers will own the physical systems that drive cooling, fluid movement and mechanical integration across the modular product.
Experience with liquid cooling, HVAC, piping, industrial mechanical systems, modular equipment or complex physical products would be particularly relevant.
Electrical engineers will own the power and electrical integration of the modular product from architecture through factory-ready released drawings.
Experience with critical facilities, data center power, switchgear, prefab power systems, electrical equipment manufacturing, NEC or UL 508A environments would be particularly valuable.
Structural engineers will own the frames, enclosures and structural systems that allow modules to be fabricated, shipped, lifted, stacked and deployed repeatedly.
Experience with structural steel, heavy fabrication, modular construction, trailers, skids, containerized products, AISC/AWS standards or production launch of fabricated hardware would be particularly relevant.
Experience in one or more of the following would be particularly valuable:
This opportunity is best suited to engineers who want to build state of the art AI data center physical products, not spend their career several layers removed from the thing being built.
You should enjoy sitting close to other disciplines, making decisions with imperfect information and seeing whether your engineering works in the real world.
The environment is fast, ambitious and low-bureaucracy. The strongest people will take broad ownership, challenge assumptions and care more about getting the right answer than protecting their lane.
