Job summary

Fluidstack seeks a hands-on Structural Engineer to design and validate modular data center frames, enclosures, and lifting/transport structures for scalable AI compute deployments in Austin, TX.

You will own structural calcs, load paths, and tolerances, collaborate across disciplines, and drive prototypes and first-article reviews from concept through fabrication.

The role emphasizes robust drawings, manufacturability, and cross-functional problem solving across teams.

Qualifications

• Engineered structures hands-on for complex products, modular construction, or heavy fabrication.
• Taken steel or sheet metal products from concept through fabrication, not just analysis of others’ designs.
• Supported production launches of own designs and stayed accountable through first articles.
• Treat transport loads, lifting points, and stacking as first-class design constraints.
• Drawings built cleanly so fabricators rarely call; you fix drawings when needed.

Responsibilities

• Engineer structural systems of modular product frames, enclosures, and lifting/transport structures from concept through released fabrication drawings.
• Own structural calcs and load paths to ensure survivability during fabrication, shipping, and stacking; avoid redesigns.
• Resolve integration between structure and MEP: penetrations and tolerances where disciplines collide.
• Provide RFIs support and engineering fixes for next revision; drive prototyping and validation through mockups and first-article reviews.
• Collaborate across disciplines and iterate quickly while maintaining configuration control.
