Job description

Electrical Engineer - Modular R&D (Power Systems / Critical Infrastructure)

Location: Austin, TX (100% On-Site)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $164,000 - $206,000 / year + Equity

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to join a fast-scaling Modular R&D team designing factory-built, prefabricated data center units for gigawatt-scale AI compute infrastructure.

Instead of traditional, slow field construction, this team moves data center delivery into high-velocity manufacturing. You will design standardized electrical products-engineered once, manufactured repeatedly, and deployed rapidly. If you excel at solving complex power distribution challenges within tight physical envelopes and designing for factory assembly, this seat offers full autonomy and immediate hardware impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical System Design: Engineer core electrical systems for modular products, including low/medium voltage power distribution, grounding, and controls integration from concept through released drawing packages.
  • Documentation & CAD Packages: Own one-line diagrams, panel schedules, cable schedules, and raceway layouts drawn to precise standards for factory fabrication and field connection.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Engineer electrical systems specifically for factory installation-thinking in pre-terminated wire harnesses, pre-assembled raceways, and modular power skids rather than traditional site-pulled wire.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Integration: Resolve physical and spatial collisions where electrical pathways meet structural frames and mechanical liquid-cooling loops.
  • Production & Prototype Support: Attend physical mockups, fit checks, and first-article builds on the shop floor. Answer production RFIs quickly and incorporate engineering fixes into subsequent design revisions.
What We Are Looking For
  • Experience: 4 to 10 years of hands-on electrical engineering experience designing complex power distribution systems for critical facilities, modular construction, switchgear OEMs, power skids, or industrial electrical equipment.
  • Production Launches: Demonstrated experience taking electrical designs from initial concept through first-article prototypes and repeat manufacturing builds.
  • DFM & Harness Instincts: Proven ability to design for factory assembly using pre-terminated wire harnesses, modular power skids, and standardized panel layouts.
  • Quality & Revision Control: Experience maintaining clean, precise CAD drawing packages and managing fast-paced engineering change orders without version chaos.
Preferred Qualifications & Keywords
  • Education & Credentials: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE); Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
  • Codes & Standards: Deep familiarity with national electrical codes and standards, including NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 110, and UL 508A.
  • Software Tools: Proficiency in electrical CAD platforms such as AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, or EPLAN.
  • Domain Knowledge: Background in critical power distribution, medium voltage switchgear, UPS systems, generator paralleling, and data center infrastructure.
