Google is seeking a Firmware Engineer for Modem Access Stratum, Layer 1 Protocol in Mountain View, CA. The role emphasizes mid-level experience with C/C++/Python and strong knowledge of wireless protocols, including LTE and 5G.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and deploy modem software, supporting NAS and emergency call performance domains, while coordinating with carriers and hardware teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience programming in C, C++, or Python.
• Experience in wireless protocols, 3GPP, Modems, LTE, 5G.

Responsibilities

• Develop and customize modem software to meet NAS and emergency call performance requirements.
• Collaborate with regional carriers to meet product requirements.
• Provide on-site carrier lab support to resolve issues and obtain certification.
• Work with cross-layer and cross-organization teams to deliver high-quality Pixel modem software.
• Generate ideas, develop features, and improve engineering processes to boost velocity and quality.
