Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Software Architect to lead design, development, and deployment of advanced software for government and commercial customers. This role requires deep expertise in C++, modeling and simulation, and strong leadership across multi-disciplinary teams.

You will mentor engineers, drive architecture decisions, and coordinate with program offices to deliver high-performance software solutions for space systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related STEM field.
• 6+ years of modeling and simulation experience.
• Proficiency in C++ for production-level software development.
• Experience with modern software development, integration, and testing practices.
• Ability to lead software projects as technical lead.
• Experience with software CM and collaboration tools (Bitbucket, Jira, GitHub).
• Mentor and train junior developers to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Strong written and verbal communication across teams and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and obtain/maintain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide deep technical expertise and leadership on modeling, simulation, and analysis efforts.
• Lead customer engagement and coordinate with stakeholders to address needs.
• Serve as main contact for programs and activities with Aerospace Program Offices.
• Mentor junior staff across focus areas and disseminate knowledge.
• Develop and present timely briefs and reports on software progress and design solutions.
• Manage development and maintenance of corporate Modeling & Simulation tools.
• Engage with users to refine capability requirements and integrate new workflows.
