Job summary

Lucid Motors is seeking a Test Engineer II in Newark, CA to advance vehicle efficiency through CFD-driven analyses. The role emphasizes developing and validating models of vehicle systems to answer design and performance questions, with close collaboration across engineering, testing, and production teams.

The candidate will work on HVAC, thermal, and powertrain interactions, using physics-based modeling and data-driven decision making to support efficient, high-performance vehicles.

Qualifications

• Experience with CFD software and simulations for vehicle systems.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and curiosity to learn.
• Deep understanding of physics, modeling techniques, and simulation.
• Excellent communication in technical and cross-functional settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform CFD simulations on HVAC and thermal system components and subsystems.
• Develop and maintain system models to solve mechanical, electrical, and thermal problems in electric vehicles.
• Build tools to support pre-processing of parameters and post-processing of results.
• Analyze the effect of parameter changes on single components and complete systems.
• Collaborate with multiple engineering departments to build models and collect parameters.
• Couple effects of different systems in an EV (motor, gearbox, inverter, battery, etc.).
• Collaborate with vehicle testing teams to instrument vehicles and run tests.
