Job summary

San Ramon Regional Medical Center is seeking a Mobility Technician to support safe patient transfers, repositioning, and ambulation in an acute care setting. This role extends the rehabilitation and nursing teams by promoting early mobility and functional recovery.

You will educate staff on mobility equipment and safe movement techniques, document activity in the EMR, and participate in fall prevention and quality initiatives. BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program, or current certification, as a Physical Therapy Aide, Rehab Tech, EMT, or Nursing Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a mobility and movement specialist, supporting nursing and therapy teams in safely mobilizing patients - transfers, lifts, ambulation, and repositioning.
• Educate and coach staff on proper use of mobility aids, lift equipment, and safe movement techniques.
• Promote early and progressive mobility, partnering with physical therapy and nursing staff to align mobility goals with individualized care plans.
• Proactively round on assigned units to identify patients appropriate for activity progression, ensuring timely interventions and safe participation.
• Support hospital-wide fall prevention strategies, observing patient condition for issues and responding to mobility needs.
• Coach and cue patients during mobility activities, encouraging independence and reinforcing therapy techniques.
• Utilize and maintain all lift equipment and mobility devices; ensure staff adherence to safe patient handling protocols.
• Assist in implementing early mobility programs and monitor performance against mobility benchmarks.
• Accurately document mobility activity, patient response, and level of assistance in the EMR.
• Collaborate with therapy and nursing teams to prevent falls and injuries.
