Job summary

The PHILADELPHIA SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking an Adaptive Equipment Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on wheelchairs and mobility aids for students with orthopedic challenges. In this role, you will train staff on equipment safety and functionality, ensuring all aids are in proper working order.

Ideal candidates should have a high school diploma and at least five years of experience in mechanical assembly or repair of electrical devices. Knowledge of orthopedic equipment is a plus. Join us in supporting our diverse student population!

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in mechanical assembly/repair of electrical devices in powerchairs preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of orthopedic and prosthetic repair trade principles.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair wheelchairs, mobility aids, and related equipment.
  • Provide training and support to staff and students on proper use of wheelchairs.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to assess wheelchair functionality.
