Job summary

HTI, including Pace Transportation Services, seeks a Mobile Trailer Technician to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on commercial trailers at customer locations. You will diagnose trailer systems, perform welding and fabrication, travel to sites, and maintain safe, high-quality service while supporting strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Technical or vocational training in trailer repair or related field preferred.
Previous trailer repair experience preferred.
Experience with brake systems, suspension systems, electrical diagnostics, and welding preferred.
Mobile service experience preferred.
Knowledge of commercial trailer systems and repair procedures.
Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair procedures.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Valid driver's license required.
DOT Annual Inspection Certification preferred.
Brake Certification preferred.
Welding certifications preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Perform routine preventative maintenance and DOT inspections on commercial trailers.
Diagnose and repair brakes, suspension, wheel-end assemblies, lighting, and other trailer systems.
Repair or replace damaged trailer components; weld and fabricate as needed.
Travel to customer locations for scheduled and emergency repairs; operate service vehicles.
Maintain inventory levels of tools, parts, and supplies on service vehicles.
Accurately record labor hours, repairs, parts usage, and inspection results.
Adhere to safety policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, EPA).
Communicate repair status and recommendations to customers and management.
Collaborate with dispatch, service management, and parts teams; support training.
