Job summary

Hinton Transportation Investments (HTI) in the United States seeks a Mobile Trailer Technician to perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and emergency repairs on commercial trailers at customer sites. You will be the field representative, delivering safe, high-quality service while building strong customer relationships.

The role requires diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues, traveling to locations, and coordinating with dispatch and parts teams.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Technical or vocational training in trailer repair or related field preferred.
Previous trailer repair experience preferred.
Experience with brake systems, suspension systems, electrical diagnostics, and welding preferred.
Mobile service experience preferred.
Knowledge of commercial trailer systems and repair procedures.
Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair procedures.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Valid driver's license required.
Ability to meet company driving requirements and maintain insurability.
DOT Annual Inspection Certification preferred.
Brake Certification preferred.
Welding certifications preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance and DOT inspections on commercial trailers.
Diagnose and repair brakes, suspension, electrical, and other trailer systems.
Repair floors, roofs, side panels, and rear frames; welding and fabrication.
Travel to customer locations for scheduled and emergency repairs.
Safely operate service vehicles and keep them maintained.
Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies on the vehicle.
Document labor hours, parts usage, and inspection results; complete DOT reports.
Adhere to safety policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, EPA).
Communicate repair status and recommendations to customers and management.
Collaborate with dispatch, service management, parts teams; mentor junior techs.
