Job summary

The State of Utah Division of Technology Services is seeking a Mobile Field Technician to install and troubleshoot telecommunications equipment across Utah. You will travel to sites statewide, including Taylorsville, performing cabling, Wi-Fi, VoIP, security, and data circuit work.

Reporting to the DTS unit, you’ll maintain logs, complete documentation, and support on-call outages. Overnight travel and flexible hours are possible, with mandatory in-person meetings at the Taylorsville office.

Qualifications

• Must understand wiring types, fiber optics, topology, and POTS color codes.
• Able to read schematics and manuals and apply instructions.
• Strong written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Able to lift up to 51 lbs and perform physical tasks routinely.
• Willing to travel and stay overnight across Utah and statewide deployments.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain telecommunications infrastructure and audio-visual systems.
• Pull, label, and route category cabling and fiber pathways.
• Set up and troubleshoot VoIP, on-premise analog, and data circuits with carriers.
• Deploy radio and wireless gear on ceilings and exteriors of buildings.
• Coordinate with IT teams to resolve data-communications issues.
• Manage inventory and maintain installation logs and repair records.
